Image Analysis

 

 If you have any social media like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc. I'm sure you have seen or heard about at least one or two physical altercations via Youtube or any of the social media companies I listed. Recording violent acts has been a trend for our generation for years. This particular image brought up two of those incidents. If you aren't aware of who miss Sharkiesha is, yes Sharkiesha is her real name, then I will enlighten you. She is a young high school student who got into a fight with another one of her schoolmates but this time it was recorded and went viral. Instantly the views went extremely high, and it was mentioned everywhere. It mainly received so much publicity because of how hard she hit the girl.Link here

Then there was another incident that happened in Cleveland, Ohio between a bus driver and a passenger. There was a female passenger who was taunting the bus driver. They eventually argued and he surprisingly hit her. Specifically, he hit her with an upper cut. But it was recorded by another passenger and posted. This also instantly got a lot of views. This received a lot of views mainly because it was a man hitting a woman and most people didn’t know if they supported him hitting her or not and another reason was because it was a bus driver and a passenger! But the thing that they both had in common was that they both hit the person extremely hard.Link here

Now that you have a good understanding of these two incidents we can now analyze the picture. In the picture you see a man in a bus driver uniform sitting on the bus smiling. He is supposed to represent the man that hit the lady in the Cleveland, Ohio incident. In letters you see “ Bet Sharkiesha won’t come on this bus tho”.  This was supposed to mean that if Sharkiesha was to do the same thing that she did to the girl she fought he would do the same thing he did to the passenger on the bus. Also, it can be interpreted that Sharkiesha wouldn’t even try to do the same thing because she would already know what the bus driver is capable of.

You can also look at this meme and know that whoever created it assumed everyone else had seen these two videos so they can put the link together. Looking at the image you can assume that the author found the two videos amusing so they made the image funny.  The author could’ve made a better statement like saying recording violent acts aren’t funny and are immature but he/she didn’t. The author let themselves stay anonymous which could mean that they know how offensive this could be or how controversial the incidents were. But these are all of my opinions so who knows?
