Gods Not Dead

A religious college freshman must debate the existence of God with his skeptical philosophy professor in order to earn a passing grade in this faith based comedy drama Josh Wheaton is a Christian who never thought his faith would get in the way of his higher education.  He is caught off guard when on the first day of his Philosophy class; Professor begins the semester by demanding that each of his students deny the existence of God in order to earn a passing grade. Although Josh tries his best to refuse, Professor Radisson informs him that in order to continue in the class, the disagreeable student must make a good argument for the defense. Not only that, but the semester will culminate in a debate between teacher and student on the subject. Should the class still remain unconvinced of God's existence, Josh will fail, sending his entire academic future up in flames.

This movie received a lot of praise as you can see from the numbers in the box office. But I was surprised by a lot of the bad reviews from people on the Internet, and this one stood out to me by Claudia Puig. She is saying this movie is targeting young folks in college or going to college. Also how the story line is predictable and not really believable saying any real college would thru the instructer out if they were running their class in that mannor. Also how bad the movie portrayed the non-believers making them seem like they are the worse people ever. Also very stereo typical plot with the Chinese boy not believing god coming from a communist country and the Muslim family being very strict over they daughter. She also stated the movie did not spend enough time in the class room explain and making the audience understand more about god since that was the whole idea of the movie.

In my opinion I loved the movie it was every thing I expected and more. I seen people complaining that the movie was too much about God, but it was a Christian movie about believing God. That’s like going to watch fast and the furious and get mad because there is too much racing. We know what we are in for because we saw the trailer and made a choice to go and see it. If you don't believe in GOD or Jesus then don't waste your time and see good clean movies like this one. This movie shows the compassion of God, and the decency of basically good moral people. I feel the story line was great and it hit home for all ages not just college students. They had four life struggles merging into one story line so many different people can get a feel of the story and connect with it. The time in the classroom with the arguments was right on they included great arguments with the big bang theory and Great scientist and philosopher. I feel that this movie made any questionable person a believer, which was the main goal of the movie. What I feel they wanted to get out of this movie was for people to start standing up for God and not always taking the easy way out like the class did in the beginning of the movie then by the end every one stood up and said God is not dead. I give a lot of respect for the people who put this movie together and feel like it came out at a great time of the year, even though its always risky coming out with religious movies in Hollywood.
